Hi! I'm Coach Gerard.

Offering Compassionate Companionship on the Journey

“I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.” ~ William Ernest Henley

Take this time to reconnect with your Inner Self.

In Greek Orthodox Spirituality, the word Hesychia means the call to quiet, rest, silence, and stillness in prayer. It’s an invitation to quiet the mind and listen for the “still small voice” or Voice of the Divine within.

As a former religious, Roman Catholic priest, retreat and spiritual director, I have experience, over the years, in discerning how Spirit has been guiding me to both deepen my humanity, and respond in service to the spiritual needs of others.  I hold a Masters of Divinity degree in Theology & Anthropology and am deeply committed to guiding my clients to achieve their self-help goals in the shortest time possible.

As a Certified Spiritual Life Coach, and graduate of the Holistic Learning Center, NJ, I am humbled and immensely blessed to use my gifts and skills in helping you heal, grow, and transcend the fear-based impulses that are keeping you stuck in your life.

I’ve Struggled too ..

In my twenties, and having completed a college degree, I joined a missionary congregation in Ireland with the hope, and compelling desire, to devote my life to ordained ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. However, three years into my eight-year formation program, my health crashed. I’d succumbed to M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; and although I limped on for a few more years, I finally left religious life.

I spent the next few years recuperating, regrouping, and in psychotherapy sessions to figure out my next steps on the journey.

In 1999 I emigrated to the U.S. as a candidate for ordination in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland, California. And in 2001 I was ordained for ministry in this diocese. I ministered at one of the most vibrant parishes in the U.S. for three years, but finally decided that the single, celibate life of an ordained priest had run its course for me. And so I resigned.

Since my resignation from full-time ministry, I’ve experienced nine years of married life; have worked as a middle school English teacher, funeral director, and at a number of retreat centers where I designed and facilitated spirituality programs and ministered as a spiritual director.

From Dark Nights of the Soul to Hope & Healing ..

Having experienced many losses in my life, and times of deep insecurity and frailty, I’ve learned to address my deepest needs and repressed emotions; and the understanding I’ve gained from studying authors like Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Eckhart Tolle, Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, Neale Donald Walsch, Ram Dass, Gary Zukav, Michael A. Singer and so many others, has broadened my perspective on human development and spiritual growth.

I’ve been deeply enriched and empowered by my life experiences and learning to date. My training as a Certified Spiritual Life Coach has helped me to integrate my intuitive wisdom, spiritual enrichment, and emotional maturity, into a professional practice I consider a way of life.

It has been a radical journey home to my Inner Self.
